Rocket with English - Assessment for Better Learning

Do you want to work in a more differentiated manner with English, increase the fun and motivation of students and achieve higher learning outcomes? In this session, we will talk about a way of working in primary English classes to cater the needs of each individual learner. Participants will have the chance to see samples of assessment data from various primary schools and brainstorm over the ways how these assessment results can be used as a tool for better learning. We will also look at the best practices in different countries to see how English language learning has been tailored to the students’ needs based on the assessment results.

Nalan Atabek

Originally trained as an English teacher, I currently work as an Internationalization and Assessment Coordinator to create and/or find opportunities for primary schools so that they can be equipped with better language learning environments, global competencies, and wider International networks to learn with and from each other.

I, also, facilitate workshops as an ETS-authorised teacher trainer for TOEFL Young Students Series. I work with administrative units of schools and English teachers in all K12 levels to cooperate over their English-language teaching programs, based on the valuable data collected from the assessments.

Bart van den Elzen

Master in educational sciences, specialized in internationalization. Nowadays, I work as an educational consultant for the CED-Group in The Netherlands. I’m a discussion partner for boards, directors of schools, school teams and partnerships in primary education in particular, with occasional assignments in secondary education. I provide training, advice and guidance in the field of citizenship education and strengthening of English teaching.

Master in onderwijswetenschappen, gespecialiseerd in internationalisering. Op dit moment werk ik als onderwijsadviseur bij de CED-Groep. Ik ben een gesprekspartner voor besturen, schooldirecteuren, schoolteams in met name het primair onderwijs, met af en toe een opdracht in het voortgezet onderwijs. Ik verzorg trainingen, advies en begeleiding op het gebied van burgerschap en het versterken van het Engels onderwijs.
